Touring riders are in need of torque more than they are of peak horsepower. In racing applications, lots of peak horsepower will result in a high top speed, and generally this happens at a very high rpm. Touring, however, is all about sustained cruising at freeway speeds and the ability to pass in traffic or to pull a trailer up a mountain road. So it is more important for touring engines to make ample torque at a reasonable rpm.- For a touring application, the “most powerful” is not always the best
- Requirements for a performance touring engine include the same concerns as a typical high performance street engine, but the priorities are different
- V107T Touring Special satisfies the needs of the performance minded touring rider with a healthy displacement, a relatively short stroke but large 4.000” bore
- 4-1/4” stroke of the V107T (same as stock) keeps piston speed down, which contributes to long engine life
- 9.5:1 compression ratio allows the V107T to pull heavy loads with little or no detonation and to tolerate sub-standard gasoline on occasion without engine damage
- Includes S&S® oil filter, 4 quarts of Mobil 1 motor oil and spark plugs
- Fits 1984-1999 chassis
